Committee Vacancies
We still have 2 vacancies on the committee, reps for Divisions 3 and 4. If you belong to a club in these divisions, please consider helping us. The job as a divisional rep is not at all strenuous. It involves attending one meeting a month in order to help us develop policy - we need people with diverse views and mustn't become inward looking. Then in September, you run a meeting for the clubs in your division. That's it. Contact one of the committee if you can do this.
Disciplinary tariffs
We've developed a few more scenarios to illustrate the 4 levels of disciplinary offences, to add to the examples already in the handbook. You can see these scenarios on the web, they are linked from the "forms and help" page.
Ground changes and improvements
Tewkesbury 3rds will play at Twyning CC this year. The pitch is behind the Puckrup Hall Hotel off the A38.
St Philips North will play at Stanton, just off the Winchcombe-Broadway road.
Gloucester City Council have started work on the pavilion at King George V Playing Field, Hucclecote, to bring it up to the standard we require.
Club contact information
As you will recall, we have only asked this year for e-mail addresses and match day contacts. In the handbook we will only print the match day contacts. This means we don't duplicate data collected and published by GCB (and Districts). So if you want to know who is a club's chairman or secretary etc., look that up in the GCB handbook.
Feedback on umpire's performance
Division 1 clubs are reminded that they should fill in the form (on the web site) which lets GACUS know how their appointed umpires are performing. This is important for encouragement, dealing with deficiencies, umpire advancement.
Umpire fees
GACUS has set the appointed umpires fee for 2008 at £20 each, or £30 if only one is present.
Over rates
The GACUS umpires have reported that division 1 games often take too long. In WEPL, clubs are fined league points if they exceed a stated rate, and many of our innings do exceed the WEPL limit. So in 2008 we will monitor over rates. If you look at the forms on the web site for the away side to report on facilities and for GACUS umpires to report, you will note we have added fields to record the innings start and finish times.
There is often the complaint at divisional meetings and AGMs that games are ending too late, hence proposals to start earlier. But perhaps the solution is in your hands - speed up the overs. And shorten the tea interval. The match rules state maximum 30 mins for tea, but how often do you exceed that?
We'll ask the question later on in the year whether we should penalise slow over rates in future.
Player registration
You must register your players by April 23, using the new method described on the web site "forms and help" pages.
