February 2010 Newsletter

Dowty Arle Court CC

Dowty Arle Court Cricket Club has closed down. Consequently the committee has decided to cancel last season’s relegation of Aston Ingham 1st XI, Ruardean Hill 2nd XI, Dymock 2nd XI and Cheltenham Saracens 2nd XI, to fill the spaces created, and in Division 9 there will be only 11 teams. All fixtures, except those involving the clubs mentioned, are unaffected. Aston Ingham 1st XI take on all Dowty’s fixtures, Ruardean Hill 2nds take on all Aston Ingham’s etc. Those who were due to play Cheltenham Saracens 2nds in Division 9 have no game that day. The new fixtures are shown on both web sites.

Groundsman Training

There will be a course at Newent on 21st March – we will circulate a flyer about this asking for nominations.

Football World Cup

As was noted for the last world cup, the rules give captains flexibility to agree on shorter games, earlier start times. League fixtures cannot be moved except as set out in Rule 10 – which in effect says games cannot be moved to a different date because of the football.

Circulars

We get quite a large number of documents from others, e.g. the Gloucestershire Cricket Board, which we are asked to pass on to all clubs. On a couple of occasions, the size of the circular has caused mailboxes to overflow. So we have started putting the documents on our play-cricket web site and sending a much shorter message without attachment giving the url where the document can be seen.

Deadlines

Just a reminder that there are three actions to be taken by all clubs:
By February 28th complete Fixture alterations under Rule 10
By February 28th respond to the e-mail about club contacts for the handbook
By April 23rd reveiw the list of registered players and email playerregister at gccl.co.uk that you have done this
